Here’s a list of the different Brief Generator components, and where that data originally comes from:

Languages

BuzzSumo’s Brief Generator is built on the Content Ideas Generator, which allows users to explore content ideas in up to 31 languages.

The brief itself will be written in English, but the following components will contain language-specific content:

  • Inspiring top-shared/linked articles

  • Top 3 ranking competing articles

  • Top 3 Keywords

Engagements

The Brief Generator draws on BuzzSumo’s bank of 300 trillion engagements.

This includes:

  • Facebook likes, shares, reactions, and comments

  • Twitter retweets

  • Pinterest pins

  • Reddit interactions and upvotes

SEO data

The Brief Generator also taps into keyword search volume & CPC data, as well as results on page 1-2 of the SERPs, to give you search-optimized content ideas.

Content types

The Brief Generator will recommend the most engaging content type for your topic, from a list of 12 different formats:

  1. Videos

  2. Lists

  3. How-to articles

  4. What posts

  5. Why posts

  6. Podcasts

  7. Newsletters

  8. Infographics

  9. Reviews

  10. Presentations

  11. Press releases

  12. Interviews

Trending scores

Create trendjacking content briefs, with trending score data. Usually our score measures the speed of social shares within a 24 hour period, but in the Content Ideas Generator you can see what’s been trending over an entire week.

B2B filters

Applying the B2B filter in the Content Ideas Generator will change the “Inspiring top-shared/linked articles” featured in your brief, to B2B content.
